Nagaland Police Officer Arrested After Allegedly Threatening Delhivery Executive with Pistol Over ₹600 COD Parcel in Chümoukedima

Chümoukedima, August 2: A Nagaland Police officer has been arrested after allegedly threatening a Delhivery courier executive with a pistol during a dispute over a Cash on Delivery (COD) parcel worth ₹600 in Chümoukedima, an incident that has drawn widespread public attention and condemnation.

The accused, identified as Blesto Zhimo, was arrested by Diphupar Police Station following a complaint filed by the delivery executive, Khrovota, who alleged that the officer intimidated him with a firearm after refusing to follow the company’s COD payment policy.

Incident occurred while parcel was being handed over

According to the victim, the incident took place at around 1:10 pm on Friday at Naga United village, Chümoukedima, while he was carrying out his delivery duties as a Field Executive with Delhivery.

Khrovota said the parcel was not delivered at the customer’s residence, but was instead handed over at another location where the customer had arrived in a vehicle. According to his statement, the vehicle used by the accused officer bore a Meghalaya (ML) registration number.

Delivery executive reminded customer of COD company policy

Khrovota said he immediately informed the customer that Delhivery’s company policy does not permit customers to open Cash on Delivery parcels before payment is completed.

He reportedly explained that if the parcel was opened before payment, the company would treat it as an accepted delivery, making the customer responsible for payment regardless of whether the item matched expectations. Any issue regarding the product, he said, had to be addressed later through the company’s official return or refund process.

According to the victim, the accused officer responded by saying “Don’t worry, I will pay.” Believing the payment would be made immediately after inspection, the delivery executive continued the exchange.

However, after opening the package, the accused allegedly claimed that the contents were not the product he had ordered and refused to make the ₹600 payment.

Officer allegedly threatened courier executive with pistol

The disagreement reportedly escalated when the delivery executive again insisted that payment was mandatory under company policy before any dispute over the parcel’s contents could be considered.

Khrovota alleged that the officer then became aggressive and pulled out a pistol, allegedly using the weapon to threaten and intimidate him during the confrontation.

No physical injuries were reported during the incident.

Complaint filed at Diphupar Police Station

Following the incident, Khrovota informed his company management before approaching Diphupar Police Station, where he lodged a formal complaint.

Based on the complaint, police arrested Blesto Zhimo, who has been identified as the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of a police station in Zunheboto district.

Police registered a case against the accused under Section 351(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), read with Section 25(1A) of the Arms Act, for the alleged criminal intimidation involving a firearm.

Victim refuses to withdraw complaint

The delivery executive also claimed that there had been attempts to persuade him to settle or compromise the matter.

However, speaking to the media, Khrovota maintained that he would continue pursuing the case.

“I will not withdraw it. I am the victim,” he said.

Youth organisation condemns alleged intimidation

The Western Chakhesang Youth Front (WCYF) strongly condemned the alleged actions of the police officer.

The organisation called for a fair investigation and urged that the legal process be allowed to proceed without interference.
