KOHIMA, October 19, 2026: The Cüze Rülho Khel Youth Organisation, Nerhema, has strongly condemned the alleged kidnapping, wrongful confinement and sexual assault of a 28-year-old woman by a private taxi driver in Kohima while she was traveling from Kohima to Chiephobozou on October 17, 2026.

In a condemnation letter dated October 18, 2026, the organisation stated that the incident allegedly occurred at around 1:30 am when the woman, identified in the letter as Ruokuotolie Rüpreo, daughter of Suolahie Rüpreo, was traveling from Kohima to Chiephobozou.

According to the organisation, the driver allegedly failed to stop the vehicle at the intended destination and instead took the woman towards the Chiechama-Botsa route, where he allegedly confined and sexually assaulted her. The letter further alleges that the accused forcibly penetrated the victim with his fingers and attempted to rape her.

Describing the alleged incident as a grave violation of women’s dignity, safety and fundamental rights, the organisation said the case also raised serious concerns about public trust in the private taxi transport system and the safety of women and girls in Nagaland. The organisation expressed solidarity with the victim and her family, acknowledging the courage it said she had shown in coming forward and lodging a First Information Report (FIR) despite the mental and physical trauma associated with the incident.

Organisation Demands Strict Legal Action

The Cüze Rülho Khel Youth Organisation has called for stringent legal action against the accused and demanded that the case be investigated on a fast-track basis.

In its letter, the organisation urged the authorities to book the accused under the applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). It also demanded that the case be pursued rigorously and that the accused receive punishment in accordance with the law if found guilty.

The organisation further called on the District Administration and the High School Area Private Taxi Union to enforce strict driver verification procedures and introduce stronger safety measures in taxis to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Warns Against Delayed Justice

The organisation warned that it would not remain a silent spectator if justice were delayed or denied. It stated that, should the need arise, it would join hands with other organisations in Nerhema village to pursue further democratic and lawful action.

It also appealed to civil society organisations, student bodies, women’s organisations and citizens across Nagaland to condemn the alleged crime and raise their voices in support of justice for the victim.

The condemnation letter was signed by representatives of the Cüze Rülho Khel Youth Organisation, Nerhema, including its president, vice-president and general secretary, and copies were marked to the Deputy Commissioner of Kohima District and the Superintendent of Police, Kohima, for information and necessary action.

The organisation concluded its statement with an appeal for justice and stronger protection for women, stressing that women’s safety must be ensured. Also Read Nagaland Police Continue Search for Robert Kikon, Believed to Be in Southeast Asia
